How would you react if you were in a classroom setting, doing your work after the teacher has ended a lecture, only to look up from what you are doing and seeing pornographic videos being played on the projector still hooked to your teachers personal laptop? Talk about one awkward situation when this happened to a classroom in Phoenix.
Apparently, after lecturing his photography class, former teacher Forrest Martin like to sit back, relax, and watch some low quality torture porn. The video clips, six to be exact, were projected from his personal computer as he relaxed at his desk. He later claimed that he was “unaware his computer was still hooked up to the projector.” A rather big mistake, I think. Martin has resigned from teaching and is facing legal charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and providing obscene materials to a minor.
Some words from the students:
“He forgot the projector screen was turned on and he started watching porn and we were all just sitting there shocked that he would watch this in front of the class.”
“He was just all into it, I don’t even think he was paying attention to us at all. He was just all in his computer.”
“I was just creeped out that a teacher that I have known from the beginning of the year could have been watching this the whole time we were in class. That’s just gross, he’ll watch it in front of kids in that school when he’s supposed to be teaching.”
“Just like knowing that he watched that in front of everybody it’s… I wouldn’t want him near me.”
xPirate’s view on the situation:
Not going to lie, this man has to be pretty fucked up to watch porn while teaching a class. I mean, we all have urges and stuff, but you can at least wait till you’re in the privacy of your own home to satisfy your “fantasies”. Who knows how many times this creeper got off during class while his students were just a few feet away from him. It’s sad to think that these types of people are hired to educate the minds of our youth. You really think this is the only teacher who has ever looked at porn in class?
I know of a similar situation at my own school. Not involving the teacher necessarily watching the porn in class, but it was definitely there on his laptop, projected for the whole class to see. Nevermind the fact that we were snooping where we shouldn’t be, there was still porn there and lots of it. He’s a teacher that will give a lecture and then go sit behind his desk while we work the rest of class too. I’m sure he’s looked through his porn while we all sat doing his busy work. In fact, after the incident where we found the porn on his laptop, I kept a close eye on him during work time. There were definitely times when he was engrossed in his computer so much that he wasn’t paying any attention to what was going on around him.
Don’t even get me started on the flaws of the United States public education system, because there are many of them. That’s for another blog post though. Until then…
